On 16 May 2026, Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum formally launched the Museum of Digital Art (MODA) — the first institution of its kind in the region. Located within the DIFC Zabeel District expansion project, MODA spans five floors and is designed by Adrian Smith + Gordon Gill Architecture. DIFC will lead the museum's physical development, while Dubai Culture and Arts Authority will oversee operations and strategic cultural direction.
The museum is intended to bring together permanent and temporary exhibitions, immersive experiences, educational programmes, and research initiatives. The announcement was made to coincide with the 20th edition of Art Dubai, and MODA forms a central pillar of DIFC's new long-term arts strategy — one that also unifies existing programmes such as the Sculpture Park, Art Nights, and Satellite Gallery into a single annual cultural calendar. The museum is also aligned with Dubai's D33 Economic Agenda and the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy.
What this means for our clients
For founders considering a Dubai base, infrastructure developments of this scale are worth noting in context. DIFC continues to expand beyond its financial core into a mixed-use district where culture, lifestyle, and commerce are deliberately integrated. This trajectory typically supports long-term property values, talent attraction, and the quality-of-life factors that influence where senior teams choose to relocate. Sectors connected to the creative economy — technology, media, design, and digital content — may find the DIFC environment increasingly relevant as anchor institutions like MODA take shape.
We work with founders at every stage of UAE market entry, from freezone selection and visa structuring to banking and tax compliance. If you are weighing up DIFC against other jurisdictions as part of your relocation planning, we are happy to walk through the operational and regulatory considerations in a consultation. Full details of the MODA launch are available directly via the DIFC announcement at difc.com.
